Huge congrats to Robbie, our Athlete of the Month for January. Robbie has been with us a few years now, and is extremely strong with some incredibly impressive lifts. This guy is super kind and one of the nicest guys you will meet. Robbie is committed to his training and consistent, with recently competing in Rumble in the Jungle. Watching him grow as a person over the last few months has been inspirational. We can't wait to see what Robbie achieves this year and will be celebrating all his successes with him. Let's get to know more about this cool guy here and what he says about CrossFit:
- Name: Robbie Nicoletti
- Age: 30
- Occupation: Train Driver
- How long have you been at CrossFit Access? 22 Months
- What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Golf, Binge watching tv series, out with mates.
- What is your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs? Favourite: Deadlifts Assault Bike. Least Favourite: Boxjumps Kettlebell Swings.
- What your biggest achievement so far? Crossfit Total Score, Deadlift/Squat 1RM’s.
- What are your future goals? Running, Consistency.
- Tell us something we don’t know about you. I was on tv when I was 15...
- Why did you start CrossFit? I got bored of writing programming and motivating myself only to sit at home/in a gym and not pushing myself anymore. I watched the CrossFit games on TV and saw people doing amazing things with heavy weights and skillful movement and thought I’d give it ago. The appeal of a social/group environment was enticing too.
- What do you love about CrossFit Access? The people. Met some awesome people who push you and can pump you up, but also keep your feet firmly on the ground in a fun way or by showing what is possible if you commit to the process. Not having to write your own workouts, and then seeing something completely new but having it explained to you and the workouts done properly. All of my lifts have increased exponentially, and my fitness is the best its been. What's not to love.
- Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? Never be afraid to scale a workout. Never be afraid to ask for help. Everyone starts somewhere and you’ll get more of a workout if you scale the workout properly, with proper form, and you’ll avoid injuries. And if you're laying there after a workout on the ground out of breathe, thinking you cant move, look around, because no matter the fitness level, everyone else will be too.
