Huge congrats to our youngest member at Morley Kaylee, who is our January Athlete of the month! Kaylee came to us with an incredible endurance base and wanted to get strong. From her first workout with us she set a very high standard for herself and through hard work Kaylee has improved massively. Not many can keep up with this super fit Teen in workouts, especially with running. Not only does Kaylee smash our daily WODs week in week out, but she is also one of Australia’s best speed skaters.Kaylee recently competed in the speed skating nationals where she won the senior ladies 42km race and was the only skater to medal in every race and also was selected for worlds team! 2018 is a huge year for this committed hardworking girl and CrossFit Access is behind her 100% . Maybe one day we might see her at the CrossFit games with the Access shirt! So lets get to know more about this inspiring young athlete here:
- Name: Kaylee Lewsen
- Age: 16
- Occupation: Student
- How long have you been at CrossFit Access? 5 months
- What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Inline speed skating, anything with a competitive nature
- What is your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs? Favourite: front squats, box jumps. Least favourite: anything overhead
- What your biggest achievement so far? Almost consistent toes to bar
- What are your future goals?Consistent double unders, pistol squats, rebound box jumps
- Tell us something we don’t know about you. I’ve spent more time doing CrossFit with broken fingers than without
- Why did you start CrossFit? I started CrossFit mostly as an extra method of training for my sport (inline speed skating). I have always been a distance athlete (anything 10km and above is my happy place) but lacked in the sprinting side of my sport, so I began CrossFit as a way of increasing my explosive speed and power whilst working even further on my fitness as well. However it has now turned into much more than just training for me, and each day I look equally as forward to CrossFit as i do my skating training.
- What do you love about CrossFit Access? I love the community feeling and how no one ever feels like they are doing it alone; everyone is always cheering each other on in each workout and making sure everyone reaches their maximum potential.
- Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? Stick with it! The weird CrossFit terms which don’t sound like English at the beginning will soon actually mean a whole lot more than just some complicated words!!
