Huge congrats to Dempsey for taking out our January athlete of the month! Dempsey recently returned to us after a short break from CrossFit and it's awesome to have Dempsey back! In the last three months we have seen such a positive change and super impressed with Dempsey's attitude to training with her consistency and making the effort to attend our specialty classes. Dempsey has steadily gone about her work which has paid off with amazing progress. We have seen Dempsey's Olympic lifting come a long way, strength increased and Dempsey is a weapon on the rower! Its been a pleasure to Coach Dempsey, to see the progress, the smile and fun had through CrossFit for this quiet achiever. We really look forward to watching many goals achieved this year!
Let's get to know more about this inspiring athlete here:
Name: Dempsey Divitini
Age: 24
Occupation: Uni Student/Work at IGA
How long have you been at CrossFit Access? 3 months
What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Spending time with my boyfriend & dog
What is your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs? Favourite - rowing, least favourite - burpees
What your biggest achievement so far? I have found I don't get tired nearly as easy and I am able to keep going through workouts
What are your future goals? Become a better runner and improve my lifting technique
Tell us something we don’t know about you. I love dogs and will try and befriend them all
Who’s your box buddy? Not sure... too shy haha
Why did you start CrossFit? I've been wanting to get in shape but found going to a normal gym really boring and monotonous and I wouldn't go. I find the atmosphere at CrossFit much more fun and welcoming. I really like how there is a wide range of movements that you learn to do that you wouldn't/couldn't do in a normal gym and the group atmosphere pushes you harder.
What do you love about CrossFit Access? The community, everyone is so nice and encouraging, no matter your skill level. Everyone is happy to help and I've never felt unwelcome at all in the short time I've been there. The coaches are really great too. I honestly look forward to going (despite how my face always looks haha) and would never push myself nearly as hard if I were working out alone.
Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? I think the hardest part in the beginning is showing up.. Once you get there, the great coaches will help you with all the movements and push you to help you achieve your goals. It all seems really overwhelming sometimes but everything can be scaled to your abilities.
